چکیده

Pikular (1955) determined the cholesterol content of compact bone after demineralization with hydrochloric acid. By the digitonide method, the cholesterol content of the organic matter (osseocollagen) was found to be 0-0028-0-0040 g. of cholesterol/100 g. of dry ash-free protein. He also prepared procollagen by the method of Orekhovich, Tustanorskii, Orekhovich & Plotinkora (1948) and showed cholesterol to be present, but did not measure the quantity. Pikular (1955) pointed out that the cholesterol content of the collagenous material was very similar to that found in myostroma by Nikol'skaya (1953) and concluded that the cholesterol was present in the form of loose and firm complexes with protein. Spector (1956) records that compact bone from

Osteogenic Differentiation and Mineralization on Compact Multilayer nHA-PCL Electrospun Scaffolds in a Perfusion Bioreactor

Background: Monolayer electrospun scaffolds have already been used in bone tissue engineering due to their high surface-to-volume ratio, interconnectivity, similarity to natural bone extracellular matrix (ECM), and simple production. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the dynamic culture effect on osteogenic differentiation and mineralizationi into a compact cellular multilayer ...

Transferable Lipids in Oxidized Low-Densit Lipoprotein Stimulate Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 and Inhibit Tissue-Type Plasminogen Activator Release From Endothelial Cells

Decreased fibrinolytic activity has been reported in atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. To determine whether oxidized low-density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL), which accumulates in atherosclerotic arteries, modulates the endothelial fibrinolytic system, cultures of human umbilical vein endothelial cells were incubated with low-density lipoproteins or lipids, and levels of plasminogen activator in...

Direct infusion mass spectrometry of oxylipin-containing Arabidopsis membrane lipids reveals varied patterns in different stress responses.

Direct infusion electrospray ionization triple quadrupole precursor scanning for three oxidized fatty acyl anions revealed 86 mass spectral peaks representing polar membrane lipids in extracts from Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) infected with Pseudomonas syringae pv tomato DC3000 expressing AvrRpt2 (PstAvr). Quadrupole time-of-flight and Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectr...

Circulating oxidised LDL lipids, when proportioned to HDL-c, emerged as a risk factor of all-cause mortality in a population-based survival study.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE the data concerning the predictive role of oxidised LDL (ox-LDL) in all-cause mortality are scarce. We investigated whether circulating ox-LDL would stand out as a risk factor of total mortality in the elderly. Study subjects, design and methods: a total of 1,260 elderly inhabitants (533 men, 727 women) aged 64 years or more from Lieto, South-Western Finland participate...
